چکیده

Objective: The era of endodontics has taken a new dimension with the advent of a synthetic, thermoplastic resin filling material, named Resilon. Our in vitro study tested the efficacy of this new obturating system, versus the ageold material Guttapercha. Materials & Methods: Forty five central incisor teeth, extracted due to periodontal reasons, were assigned to two experimental (Resilon and AH 26) and one control group. They were obturated by lateral condensation method, immersed in 2% methylene blue solution, sectioned longitudinally and examined under stereomicroscope. Dye penetration was recorded as an indicator of microleakage. Analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA) and post hoc multiple comparisons were used for statistical analyses. Results: Analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA) showed highly significant (P<0.001) Health Sciences 2014;1(3):JS001F 1 An Open Access Peer Reviewed E-Journal Original ResearchComparative evaluation of the apical seal of Resilon tm with sealer, Guttapercha with resin sealer and Guttapercha with Zinc oxide eugenol sealer in permanent single rooted teeth– an in vitro study difference among the groups tested. Post hoc multiple comparisons revealed the difference between groups, of which dye penetration in Resilon and AH 26 was significantly different from control and between themselves. Conclusion : Resilon has better sealing ability when compared to the other two filling materials .

Effectiveness of a silicon-based root canal sealer for filling of simulated lateral canals.

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the ability of a silicon-based root canal sealer, compared to zinc oxide and eugenol and an epoxy resin-based sealers, for filling of simulated lateral canals. Thirty extracted single-rooted human teeth were selected, conventional access was made and the working length was established 1 mm from the apical foramen. Three simulated lateral canals...

Softening Efficacy of Various Solvents on Gutta-percha and Root Canal Sealer

Solvents have been used in endodontic retreatment for a long time and the dissolving effect is well proven. Latterly chloroform has come in a bad light due to its possible carcinogenicity. Despite the negative health effect it is still used in dental environment. Other more biocompatible solvents have now reached the market and tests should be performed to evaluate the softening efficacy. The p...
